Palace of Holyroodhouse
The Palace of Holyroodhouse, which started life as a Monastery in 1128, is now the Queen's official residence in Edinburgh and the home of Scottish royal history. The name Holyrood comes from 'holy rood' or 'holy cross'
It is open throughout the year and the Palace stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile. It is associated with some of Scotland's well-known historic figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. Arthur’s Seat
Arthur's Seat is situated close by the Palace of Holyroodhouse and is an extinct volcano which is considered to be the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland, which forms most of Holyrood Park.
