Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Palace of Holyroodhouse, which started life as a Monastery in 1128, is now the Queen's official residence in Edinburgh and the home of Scottish royal history. The name Holyrood comes from 'holy rood' or 'holy cross'

It is open throughout the year and the Palace stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile. It is associated with some of Scotland's well-known historic figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. Arthur’s Seat

Arthur's Seat is situated close by the Palace of Holyroodhouse and is an extinct volcano which is considered to be the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland, which forms most of Holyrood Park. It is described by Robert Louis Stevenson as "a hill for magnitude, a mountain in virtue of its bold design

We offer guided tours of the Scott Monument. The tours run every half an hour from 10am until 4.30pm, which is the last admission.
To book please get in touch directly with the Scott Monument or you may purchase tickets upon arrival. 

On the death of Sir Walter Scott in 1832, the great and good of the city came together to agree on a fitting monument to this outstanding Scottish literary figure.

In 1836, an architectural competition was launched, inviting designs for an appropriate memorial. Two years later, the trustees approved the design submitted by George Meikle Kemp, and construction began in 1840.

Scotland's best visitor attraction and a 5-star attraction in Leith, Edinburgh. It is known as the Royal Yacht Britannia, the former royal yacht of the British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, in service from 1954 to 1997. It was launched on 16 April 1953, Yard number 691 and commissioned on 11 January 1954 and was decommissioned on 11 December 1997. Its tonnage is 5,769 GT.

Roslyn Chapel is considered one of Scotland's most remarkable buildings, and it has been in the ownership of The Earl and Countess of Roslyn family since its foundation in 1446 and is still used even to this day as a place of worship.

Roslyn Chapel was made world famous following the final thrilling scenes from the movie The DaVinci Code which was filmed here.
